When we were children we tried a lot, failed a lot, but also learned a lot, and there was genuine excitement in that. We weren’t thinking about consequences, fear of failure didn’t hold us back, we just tried.

I believe this is the right mindset to have, not only as children, but as adults and throughout our lives.

It makes sense, and it’s part of our maturation as human beings, that as we grow up we become more prudent and wise, and consider the consequences of our actions before we do anything.

But I find that we often defeat ourselves before we even get started towards accomplishing something by the fear of failure, by thinking of all the ways things could go wrong.

The only thing standing between you and your goal is the story you keep telling yourself as to why you can’t achieve it.

How about considering how things could go right? How about considering how the process of simply trying, regardless of the outcome, could help us grow as persons, and open the doors to completely unexpected opportunities?

I believe this is the right mindset to adopt, this is the mindset that leads to growth, and fulfillment.
